This refers to the EU directive “Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment”, which came into force in July 2006 and restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electrical and electronic equipment. Accordingly, products containing any of the following 6 chemicals cannot be marketed within the EU member states:
・Cadmium
・Chromium VI (hexavalent chromium)
・Lead
・Mercury
・PBB
・PBDE |
JIG, short for Joint Industry Guide, is a guideline established jointly by the member companies of EICTA (European Information, Communications and Consumer Electronics Technology Industry Association), JGPSSI (Japan Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative), EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance of the US) and JEDEC (Joint Electron Device Engineering Council of the US). It regulates the materials and chemicals contained in electrical and electronic equipment that suppliers must disclose, as well as their threshold values. |
